RIVERTON, Wyo. — Central Wyoming College will officially be offering its first four-year Bachelor’s degree beginning in the fall of 2020 at all three campuses — Riverton, Jackson and Lander! The degree being offered is a Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Management and Leadership.
Two areas of emphasis will be available for students pursuing this degree — a Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership option and a Tribal Leadership option. This program will be offered both in-person at CWC’s three campuses and also online through Zoom.
The program will provide an opportunity for students to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully manage and lead within the private, public, government and nonprofit organizations.
Applicants to the program will be assessed individually, but do not need to have prior college credits. Prior job-related experience is often sufficient. Also, students who already have an Associate’s degree may be able to transfer some of their credits and move into the final two years of the program.
This program is unique in that individual student advising is heavily emphasized, and includes one success coach for each student.
The curriculum offers specific areas of emphasis while integrating practical application and active learning strategies to encourage growth in management and leadership roles.
CWC is emphasizing the ever-evolving component of leadership with management; a component that is often neglected in management training and education. The leadership aspect is helpful for students in seeing and valuing their own worth, while also discovering how they can impact others.
The degree will focus on practical skills that will empower students in areas of personal leadership, conflict management, interpersonal communication human resource management and managing people and projects.
Courses in this program will be taught by the following three CWC professors:
- Lael Noonan, Director of Bachelor of Applied Science
- Dr. Tarissa Spoonhunter, Associate Professor of American Indian Studies
- Brittany Yeates, Assistant Professor of Business
- Sandy Hessler, Instructor, Start Up Intensive
- Tammy Forbis, Instructor of Business
- Joseph Fountain, Instructor of Psychology
