JACKSON HOLE, WYO – The Teton County Treasurer’s Office was recognized as a highly efficient and well-run department.
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) recently announced that the Teton County Treasurer Office received the Distinguished Budget Presentation award. The GFOA stated that the award “reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting.”
The award is specifically in recognition of the Teton County Budget Narrative—a document that represents a collaborative effort between Teton County Clerk Sherry Daigle, County Commission Administrator Alyssa Watkins, County Treasurer Donna Baur, and County Financial Accountant Katie Smits.
“The budget narrative was created to provide the citizens of Teton County with a more transparent explanation of the County’s revenues and expenditures,” Baur said. “It would not be possible to create a document like this without great collaboration between the Clerk, Administrator, and Treasurer Office.”
In order to receive this award, the Budget Narrative had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines assess how well the Budget Narrative serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device.
“We’re very proud of this award, and this achievement has been a goal of our office for quite some time,” Baur added. “I’m particularly grateful for the effort and hard work of Katie Smits, our Financial Accountant.”
