JACKSON, Wyo. — The Teton County Clerk of District Court will hold a passport application event on Sunday, Dec. 3 at the Teton County Courthouse, the county announced Thursday.
The event will assist first-time passport applicants, those renewing five-year passports, adults whose most recent passport was lost or stolen and more. Adults renewing a 10-year passport that is still in their possession can renew online.
Appointments are required, and can be made by calling 307-733-2533 or emailing codc@tetoncountywy.gov. To prepare for the appointment, the clerk’s office recommends checking travel.state.gov to understand the documents required for an individual’s specific circumstances. Most people will need to bring original proof of U.S. citizenship (e.g. an original birth certificate), a check or money order for payment to the Department of State, a new passport photo and a valid government-issued I.D. for the application signer (which could be the applicant or the guardian of a youth applicant).
“Teton County Clerk of District Court Anne C. Sutton is reminding international travelers that passport processing continues to take much longer than it once did,” the announcement reads. “Community members needing new or updated passports for spring break travel are encouraged to submit their applications soon.”
The U.S. Department of State is quoting processing times of up to 10 weeks for routine passport processing, or up to 5 weeks for expedited processing (which costs an additional $60). Mailing time would add up to two weeks each way, upping the total turnaround time.
