JACKSON HOLE, WYO – The Board of County Commissioners will soon be asked to approve two pending special events permits that will bring major concert events to Jackson Hole next summer.
The ‘on again, off again’ Dead & Company show is apparently on the table again. Concert promoters have worked out a tentative deal to bring the band to Jackson on August 17-18, 2019. The concert/festival is expected to draw some 20,000 attendees over the weekend. It is scheduled to take place on Gill Family property in South Park on Hereford Ranch Lots 6 and 7.
Another concert event that made its Jackson Hole debut last summer is hoping to come back this July. Fire in the Mountains Metal Festival drew modest crowds last year but event organizer Jeremy Walker was encouraged by who came (festival goers traveled from 27 states, three Canadian provinces, as well as from England and Mexico) and hopes to build the event into a world-class music festival.
Fire in the Mountains 2019 is scheduled for July 13-14 at Heart 6 Ranch. Some 950 are expected to attend.
Last year, commissioners initially balked at the Dead & Co. festival after staff recommended denial of the event over concerns about the festival’s magnitude and procedural issues and the failure of the county’s special events permit process to adequately address largescale concert events.
By the time commissioners voted to approve the event, concert promoters said the band had already booked the weekend at another venue.

Will county be Grateful for Dead show this summer?
