JACKSON, Wyo. — Jackson Hole Historical Society & Museum invites the community to a “Topping Out” Party on Monday, June 5 from 5-7 p.m. at the Jackson Hole Land Trust’s Greenspace on the Block (at the corner of Deloney and Willow Streets).
Celebrate an important milestone, the halfway point in construction, for the new History Museum Campus with live music by Tasha & The Goodfellows, free food and drinks and a family-friendly history activity. Partygoers can also sign a structural beam (a construction tradition originally from Scandinavia and long practiced in the United States) that will be hoisted into place during the event at 6 p.m.

A “topping out” celebration signifies a building’s groundwork being laid and commemorates the hard work each person has contributed to reach the project’s mid-point. The signed beam will be a permanent part of the History Museum, letting signers of all ages leave their mark on Jackson Hole History! To sign the structural beam, it is suggested to arrive at least 15 minutes before 6 p.m.

“We want to give a big thank you to the Jackson Hole community and voters whose support of the SPET ballot in 2019 kicked off this entire project,” said Executive Director Morgan Jaouen. “We’re also grateful for generous, early-stage donors and board members who have championed the vision for a new History Museum, as well as party sponsors Cafe Genevieve, Persephone Bakery, Pure Madness Brewery Group, and The Liquor Store whose donations help make the event free to the public.”
The “Topping Out” Party is free and open to the public. The new campus is currently scheduled to open in early summer 2024. To learn more about the project or get involved visit jacksonholehistory.org.
