JACKSON, Wyo. — Hundreds of local community members gathered on Monday evening at the Greenspace on the Block to celebrate and sign a structural beam for the Jackson Hole Historical Society’s new History Museum Campus. The party marked an important milestone – the halfway point in construction.
A “topping out” celebration signifies a building’s groundwork being laid and commemorates the hard work each person has contributed to reach the project’s mid-point. The signed beam filled with 100s of signatures was lifted into place during the evening and will be a permanent part of the History Museum.
Executive Director Morgan Jaouen and Board President Marlin Risinger thanked contributors from the construction crew to staff and board to generous early-stage donors and 2019 SPET (specific purpose excise tax) voters who kicked off the project in 2019.
“How fantastic to see a cross-section of Jackson Hole come together to show their support and cheer all the hard work that has gone into this project,” said Jaouen. “There is still work ahead of us, but we know this community will step up to help us achieve our goal of opening an inspiring History Museum Campus for all in 2024.”

Live music by Tasha & The Goodfellows, with free food and drinks from event sponsors Cafe Genevieve, Persephone Bakery, Pure Madness Brewery Group and Top Shelf Collective kept the party going for two hours with opportunities to also enter a raffle for a hand-sewn quilt created by artist Nancy Kobylski and featuring the Moulton Barn.
