Dance is eye-opening and mind-expanding, for the dancer and the observer. For Contemporary Dance Wyoming’s “Up Close” performances on May 23 & 24, audience members are invited to sit on stage and experience the explosive physicality and subtle gesture of these local artists. Do you know them? Michaela Ellingson, Kate Kosharek, Marissa Moeri, Francesca Romo, Megan Stewart.

Their story is not your story, but it is a story we all share – one of a lifelong journey of discovery and understanding. As T.S. Eliot says, “We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.”

This year’s annual concert uses consciousness as an entry point to explore the questions and human curiosity about the “stuff” we are made of. See the process and the endurance, aloneness, unity and discovery it takes for all of us to change. The movement on stage, coupled with an eclectic soundtrack including Black Dice, Dean Martin and Chopin, will transfix you like a powerful meditation or a gripping speech.

Ever considered a dance performance? This is your chance. Take it!

Thursday, May 23 / 8pm
Friday, May 24 / 6pm & 8pm
The Center Theater, on stage

MORE ABOUT CDW

Contemporary Dance Wyoming is an ensemble of professional dancers that performs, teaches and inspires audiences in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and beyond. CDW is the resident company at Dancers’ Workshop, led by Founding Artistic Director Babs Case, and is the only professional modern dance company in Wyoming. In addition to performing, CDW plays an important role in the full circle of programming at Dancers’ Workshop including instruction in the School’s youth program to teaching statewide outreach in regional school systems.

Intimate, at times humorous and surprisingly transcendent, CDW’s modern and postmodern repertoire combines dance with visual arts and the spoken word. Collaborations with guest artists push the Company’s repertoire in new directions and the company dancers to stretch their physicality. The Company’s varied, highly athletic and innovative repertoire provides local professional dancers performance opportunities in our community and throughout the western region.
