JACKSON, Wyo. — The Jackson Police Department (JPD) is showing off its Independence Day spirit with a brand-new police cruiser.

The 2026 Dodge Durango sports a special stars-and-stripes version of the JPD decal. Its siren is specially rigged to be able to play “The Star-Spangled Banner,” according to Lt. Russ Ruschill. The vehicle will make a grand entrance on Saturday, leading off the downtown Fourth of July parade.

The car was acquired by the force this week, and had only 27 miles on it by Thursday morning. Ruschill noted that the special cruiser didn’t incur any extra costs, and was in line with the procurement and request for proposal laws followed by the department. The vehicle is not assigned to any specific officer at the moment.

Jacksonites and visitors might encounter the new car this holiday weekend; JPD will be out patrolling for impaired driving. Stay safe out there.
