JACKSON HOLE, WYO – The Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance issued a statement in reaction to the SPET election held May 2. Voters passed six of the 10 initiatives for projects totaling $34M. START Bus facility expansion, money for replacement and additional buses, and housing at the facility all failed, as did housing money for Redmond-Hall rentals.
“We are especially thankful to our community for supporting select investments that will make it safer to walk and bike and create affordable homes for our middle class,” Alliance director Craig Benjamin stated in a release. “While it’s disappointing that Teton County voters did not support all of the measures that would have helped reduce congestion and create affordable homes for our middle class, our community now has the opportunity to continue the conversation about how to best address our housing and transportation challenges, and to expand this conversation to include how we can address our community’s highest priority–protecting wildlife and improving habitat connectivity.”
