MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, Wyo. — Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel and Cabins in Yellowstone National Park (YNP) will open its doors to visitors starting July 1 after being closed for more than a year following 2022’s historic flood.

The hotel was originally expected to reopen April 28, but damage to the area’s wastewater system was still too severe, according to YNP. The park says a new wastewater treatment system has been successfully installed, serving the hotel and eventually the nearby Mammoth Campground.

Parts of the hotel are already open to visitors, including the lobby, gift shop and Terrace Grill. The hotel’s dining room is expected to reopen later this year. Tours departing from the hotel will resume July 1, as well. Full details are available on the park’s website.

In June 2022, historic flooding caused severe damage to the North Entrance Road between Mammoth Hot Springs and the park’s North Entrance in Gardiner, Montana. In addition, a sewer line adjacent to the road that carried wastewater from Mammoth Hot Springs to a sewage treatment plant in Gardiner was ruptured.
