YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — The Firehole River in Yellowstone National Park (YNP) has re-opened for fly fishing after being closed earlier this summer due to warm water temperatures, YNP announced Monday.

Effective immediately, the Firehole is open to anglers from sunrise to sunset. It had been closed to fishing activities on July 15, along with the Madison and Gibbon rivers, due to stressful heat conditions that negatively impact the park’s resident trout. More waterways in the park partially closed to anglers on July 25, but all have since reopened. The Firehole was the last river under restrictions.

See Yellowstone’s Fishing Regulations 2024 Booklet for more information on fishing in the park.
