Year-to-date visitation in Grand Teton nearly identical to 2025

GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK — Visitation statistics for Grand Teton National Park (GTNP) during the month of August have been released, indicating that the park saw its second-busiest August on record. From January through August, the park welcomed only one fewer guest than the same time period last year.

During August, the park saw 717,349 recreation visits, which is down about 2.5% from last year, when GTNP had 735,593 visits. Visitation was up 2% from August 2021 (703,118 recreation visits), which was the park’s record-breaking year with over 3.88 million visits.

So far this year, GTNP has hosted 2,791,375 recreation visits, which is just one number off from last year’s total for the same time frame (2,791,376 visits). This year’s January through August total falls about 5% down from 2021’s numbers (2,943,923 visits).

Compared to last year, the busy months of June, July and August saw significantly fewer visits, but the total was bolstered by above-average visitation in the months from January through May, which included the busiest May on record. If off-season and colder months continue to see more visitors than typical, then 2026 has the potential to unseat 2025 as the second-busiest year on record.
