WILSON, Wyo. — Heads up, Wilson residents! Grizzly bears have been spotted between Fish Creek and the Aspens condominiums.

The footage was shared with Buckrail by a resident of the Aspens. According to the resident, their motion sensor camera detected two grizzlies passing by around 7:45 a.m. on Monday, April 22.

The resident contacted the condos’ management team, who contacted the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD). WGFD confirmed that they had reviewed the video and seen the tracks behind the Aspens.

“Looks to be a female grizz with a yearling,” WGFD Large Carnivore Biologist Mike Boyce told Buckrail.

Boyce reminds locals to do their part in avoiding “bear conflicts on their property by securing all bear attractants, as per County regulations.” This includes storing all garbage within bear-resistant containers, securing livestock feed, pet food, compost and beehives, and hanging birdfeeders in a way that makes them inaccessible to bears.

Bear season in Jackson Hole began in late March, when Grand Teton National Park reported its first grizz of the year. See Buckrail’s tips for recreating in bear country here.
