JACKSON, Wyo. — This week, the Wyoming State Geological Survey (WSGS) released its annual snapshot of uranium, oil and natural gas activity in Wyoming.
Both fact sheets are available as free downloads on the WSGS website: Uranium Summary and Oil & Gas Summary.
Uranium
According to the report, Wyoming continues to be a leader in U.S. uranium production and resource potential.
“The renewed national and international interest in nuclear energy — combined with higher uranium prices — has led to increased activity in the state,” the WSGS writes.
The report confirms several uranium companies are “ramping up” Wyoming operations and companies are investing in additional exploration and increasing staffing.
Oil and Natural Gas
Oil production remains a mainstay of Wyoming’s energy landscape, per the report.
“Despite fluctuating commodity prices, the state continues to see stable or modestly increasing oil output,” the WSGS writes. “Meanwhile, natural gas follows a more complex trend.”
The WSGS suggests that current oil production volumes indicate Wyoming’s oil sector remains resilient while new drilling for natural gas has slowed. As a result, WSGS confirms statewide natural gas production continues a measured decline.
