JACKSON HOLE, WYO – With Labor Day right around the corner, WalletHub took a look at the 2018’s Hardest-Working States in America. And Wyoming was among the toilingeststates in the Union.

Americans work an average of almost 1,800 hours per year with 52% of workers not using all their available vacation time

In order to determine where Americans work the hardest, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 10 key metrics. The data set ranges from average workweek hours to share of workers with multiple jobs to annual volunteer hours per resident.

  • 15th – Share of Workers with Multiple Jobs
  • 6th – Annual Volunteer Hours per Resident
  • 16th – Avg. Leisure Time Spent per Day

Hardest working states included a top 5 of Alaska, North Dakota, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Nebraska—in that order. Biggest slackers? Michigan, Rhode Island, West Virginia, New Mexico, and Oregon.
