WYOMING — With heavy hearts and steady optimism, the five-act WYOmericana Caravan Tour announced today that ten concert dates originally scheduled for May/June are cancelled based on circumstances surrounding COVID-19. The silver lining? A run of theater dates is already in the works for September and October.
“We care deeply about the communities that this tour travels through as well as the dozen musicians and crew that would be on the road during this time,” said tour co-founder Seadar Rose Davis of Screen Door Porch. “We’re optimistic that fall will offer the reprieve we all need to enjoy concerts and stage time once again.”
In November 2019, the WYOmericana Caravan committee—in collaboration with the Wyoming Arts Council—selected five acts from an extensive batch of applicants to take part in the collaborative tour of original, Wyoming-based acts. The 6th anniversary tour will feature Sarah Sample (Sheridan), Aaron Davis & the Mystery Machine (Hoback), The Two Tracks (Sheridan), Jason Tyler Burton (Pinedale), and Shawn Hess (Laramie). In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for live streaming via the WYOmericana Facebook and Instagram pages, and tour updates at WYOmericana.com.
Thanks to wonderful fans and sponsors that have rallied behind the tour, the grassroots collective will also offer instructional demonstrations/workshops in select markets in the fall. Current sponsors include Give’r, Wyoming Sounds, Buckrail, Snake River Brewing, Wyoming Public Media, Showdeer, BendeRuble Sound, Wyoming Independent Music Initiative, Pinedale Fine Arts Council’s Soundcheck Summer Music Series, and Luminous Brewhouse. If you are interested in becoming a tour sponsor, booking the tour at your venue in Sept/Oct, or simply want to reach out, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
More about the 2020 WYOmericana Caravan Tour
Described as “a traveling concert circus of sorts” by The New York Times, the award-winning WYOmericana Caravan Tour is a rolling representation of Wyoming’s burgeoning songwriter scene with multiple musical acts “caravanning” down the road together. The idea is to propel Wyoming’s music scene as an artist collective, exhibiting to the world that there’s a creative movement in the USA’s least populated state. Musical acts perform individual sets—with the suspense of ad-libbed, cross-band collaborations—followed by an encore set that includes all members of the tour on stage simultaneously, taking chances and blending talents. Past tours have featured Jalan Crossland, Screen Door Porch, The Patti Fiasco, J Shogren Shanghai’d, Canyon Kids, Sneaky Pete & the Secret Weapons, The Littlest Birds, Low Water String Band, and Dauphin.
