WYOMING — Following the end to the government shutdown, Wyoming residents participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will begin to receive their November benefits as soon as Friday, Nov. 14.

The state’s Department of Family Services (DFS) announced Thursday that “Wyoming recipients will receive the full amount of SNAP benefits they are eligible for in November.” DFS added that it has prepared all files necessary to release the benefits, which could reach electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards as soon as Friday. EBT users are advised to call (877) 290-9401 or use the EBT Edge website to confirm their benefits have arrived before heading to the grocery store.

“We are truly grateful for everyone who came forward to help feed Wyoming’s residents when we didn’t have SNAP,” DFS Director Korin Schmidt said in the announcement. “This was a time when we were already seeing more need, and we could have seen so much suffering. Instead community partners, volunteers, food banks, and of course, Governor Gordon, have all helped fill the gap. Thank you so much, from all of us at DFS.”

DFS shared that $4,854,534 in SNAP benefits went to 26,393 individuals in Wyoming in September.

The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP), which is also administered by DFS, has been paused since Oct. 15 due to the shutdown affecting funding availability.

LIEAP has not yet been funded,” DFS said in the announcement. “Wyoming is, however, still able to process applications, and those who may qualify for LIEAP should apply so that their application can be processed as soon as possible when funding is available.
