WYOMING — The Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) announced on Thursday, Dec. 19, that it will be offering a wide selection of free online classes to older Wyoming adults.
The subjects range from popular fitness classes, such as “indoor walking workout,” to avoiding scams, computer skills, crafting, cooking and learning about volunteering. Some courses involve live sessions, while others are recorded and available at any time.
WDH Community Living Section Manager Jeff Clark said in the announcement that WDH’s “GetSetUp” digital education site is an opportunity for older adults to increase activity, boost wellness and spark their creativity by learning new things.
“Wyoming residents can access thousands of interactive classes taught by older adults to their peers on GetSetUp,” Clark said. “These classes can be a simple way to connect with others from the comfort and safety of one’s home, which is especially a nice feature during poor weather.”
According to the WDH, Wyoming residents have participated in nearly 20,000 classes since GetSetUp became available three years ago.
GetSetUp’s video learning interface has been tailored to older adults of all tech levels. The platform offers support via phone to help learners, and includes a booking system with regular reminders and after-class notes.
The classes are free for state residents. To avoid fees, residents should use the coupon code “Wyoming” while booking classes. Many classes are available in Spanish, with some presented in other languages as well.
