JACKSON, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) will host a public open house to help determine the next phase of the WY22 Corridor Project on Wednesday, June 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Teton County Fairgrounds Community Building at 390 W Karns Ave.

There will be no formal presentation. WYDOT officials will be available to answer questions and public input will help determine construction improvements.

WYDOT wrote on the project’s website that the primary purpose of the planned corridor is to improve safety and mobility for all users and modes of transportation through the approximately 6 mile segment between Jackson and Wilson. The WY22 Corridor Project extends from the US89/WY22 intersection with Broadway Ave. (known locally as the Y intersection) through Wilson and includes existing Tribal Trail Road to S. Park Loop/W Boyles Hill roads.

“Currently, travelers experience substantial travel time delays — particularly during the peak travel hours in the mornings and evenings,” WYDOT wrote. “Existing traffic volumes between the Y intersection and WY 22/390 intersection exceed the two-lane highway capacity.”

According to WYDOT, traffic volumes and congestion have increased over the past decade, resulting in increased crashes. Accessing WY22 from the local roadway network, particularly making left-hand turns onto and off of WY 22, can be severely inhibited due to congestion.

During the open house, WYDOT will share potential alternatives in 3D, intersection designs, lane configurations and the project’s projected schedule.
