WILSON, Wyo. — More than a week has elapsed since the catastrophic failure of Teton Pass at milepost 12.8. The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) has been working around the clock to reconnect Jackson with Teton Valley, Idaho.

WYDOT shared an update video via Facebook on Friday, June 14, tracking the progress they’ve made on the construction of the detour.

The agency also shared aerial photos of the construction site on Sunday, June 16, which illustrate the detour’s proximity to the failed portion of road.

On Tuesday, June 11, WYDOT said the detour was expected to be in place within two weeks. The Wyoming Transportation Commission awarded a $430,000 emergency bid to Evans Construction for the project.

Drivers should expect the detour to be a steeper and sharper turn at milepost 12.8 when the project is complete, according to last week’s update from WYDOT Communications Specialist Stephanie Harsha. Harsha anticipates that reduced speeds will be enforced around that bend.

WYDOT has been sharing a bevy of construction photos to its Facebook page over the past week. Keep an eye on their page for continued updates.
