WILSON, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) has announced another paving project. Starting on Monday, Oct. 7, crews from WYDOT, Ames Construction and Evans Construction will add a final layer of asphalt over the construction areas on WY22 and WY390. They will also pave the approach to Emily Stevens Park from WY22.

Crews will begin with the WY390 portions on Monday, starting at the concrete intersection and continuing to the boat ramp road. This portion of the project is expected to take one to two days. After WY390 work is complete, crews will move onto WY22, working from the intersection west toward the Stilson entrance. That part of the project should also take one to two days.

They’ll finish the project by paving the entrance to Emily Stevens Park Entrance Road, likely on Thursday, Oct. 10. WYDOT noted in its announcement that vehicles will be directed around the work zone, and that cyclists and pedestrians using the pathway should remain alert to the paving operations.

“Drivers should anticipate congestion and avoid peak travel times if possible,” the agency said in its announcement. WYDOT added that drivers can expect lane shifts next week to accommodate the work, but that crews will plan to keep one lane open in each direction.

Paving operations will begin mid-morning on most days after the air temperature reaches the appropriate minimum, according to WYDOT.

“WYDOT delayed the last bit of paving work from the summer until now, in order to take advantage of lower traffic volumes and less disruption,” WYDOT’s announcement reads. “Crews will be working daily during daytime hours, but will maintain the same number of lanes, which is one lane in each direction, throughout paving.
