JACKSON, Wyo. — Paving operations are complete on sections of WY22 between Jackson and the base of Teton Pass in Wilson, and road striping operations are set to begin later this month.
Beginning Sunday evening, WYDOT will start smoothing out some rough spots along the newly paved road. In a Friday update, WYDOT noted that the grinding work is scheduled to last two to three nights, with single-lane traffic anticipated in short sections between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Work crews will also be grading and installing delineators on road shoulders during the day over the next couple of weeks. Those projects should not impact traffic, though motorists are advised to be aware of workers near the road.
Striping operations, scheduled to begin the week of Sept. 21, must take place during the day due to the temperatures needed for “quality paint adherence.”
“WYDOT would like to remind drivers to be aware of the striping trucks on the road during that time and to slow down accordingly,” the announcement reads. “Stripers travel at reduced speeds while applying the paint and travel with a shadow car, which watches for traffic in the area. Drivers are urged to not follow stripers too closely and only pass when it is safe to do so. Drivers should be aware that driving over wet paint can reduce the reflectivity of the markings, as well as stick to your vehicle.”
Teton County’s pathway project in downtown Wilson will remain active through next summer, so that area will not see any paving or striping as part of this project. The WYDOT work on WY22 is estimated to be complete by Oct. 31.
