UPDATE: 7:05 p.m: Teton Pass is open in both directions. 

UPDATE: 5:30 p.m:  As of 5:30 p.m. the estimated open time is in 4 to 6 hours according to WYDOT.

WILSON, Wyo. — Teton Pass is still closed for avalanche mitigation.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation issued this update, today Jan. 6 at 2:30 p.m

“The estimated opening time is in 5 to 7 hours. Parking on the roadway is prohibited and delays opening the road.”

The road closed in both directions for avalanche mitigation at 12:05 p.m. today, Jan. 6.

An avalanche occurred this afternoon in the Snake River Canyon. Bridger Teton Avalanche Center rated the avalanche danger at high in the upper elevations this morning and increasing to high at mid-elevations as well.
