HOBACK, Wyo. — An avalanche occurred in the Snake River Canyon on Highway 89 between Hoback and Alpine near mile marker 129, announced the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) just after 12:45 p.m.

The travel lane is blocked. Travelers should be prepared to stop and expect delays.

WYDOT will close the Hoback River Canyon, U.S 191/189 at 6 p.m. today for avalanche mitigation. The closure was planned ahead of the avalanche in the Snake River Canyon.
