Yellowstone National Park - Jackson Hole

JACKSON, Wyo. — The calendar might say June, but it certainly won’t feel like it for the next couple of days! The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains (above 7,000 feet) and all of Yellowstone National Park, which is valid from 11 p.m. on Sunday night through noon on Monday.

The NWS is forecasting 4-8 inches of snow in the Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains above 9,000 feet, and 2-4 inches of snow for elevations between 7,000-9,000 feet, the latter of which includes Tetons Pass. If you’re driving over Teton or Togwotee Passes on Monday morning, then you may encounter some slushy snow accumulations on the roads.

The NWS is also forecasting snow amounts of 2-4 inches across most of Yellowstone National Park from Sunday night through Monday morning, with isolated higher amounts of up to 6 inches possible.

The Winter Weather Advisory does NOT include the Jackson Hole Valley, although valley areas including the town of Jackson are expected to see snow falling on Monday morning.

A Freeze Watch has been issued for the Jackson Hole Valley and Star Valley on Sunday night and Monday morning, and it’s likely that temperatures will fall below freezing in these areas on Tuesday morning as well, so be sure to protect any sensitive vegetation.
