JACKSON, Wyo. — The National Weather Service’s Riverton, Wyo., office (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Teton and Gros Ventre ranges, in effect through 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23.
NWS forecasts that snow accumulations between 8 and 12 inches are expected across the Tetons, including Teton Pass, leading to potentially tough vehicle travel. The Gros Ventres might see 3 to 6 inches, with 2 to 4 potential inches on Togwotee Pass.
“Travel could be difficult at times across Teton Pass and Togwotee Pass,” the warning reads. “The heaviest snow will be after sunrise Monday through early afternoon. Light snow will increase later this morning, with heavier snow falling during through [sic] the day Monday. Slow down and use caution while traveling.”
A Hazardous Weather Outlook has also been issued for Western and Central Wyoming, calling for light snow on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25, with the potential for a “more active pattern” to arrive in time for the weekend.
