JACKSON, Wyo. — The National Weather Service’s Riverton, WY office has issued a winter storm watch, effective from late Wednesday night (Nov. 22) through Friday morning (Nov. 24).

The alert warns of possible heavy snow, forecasting snow accumulations of three to six inches. Higher elevations could get more than six inches of snow, plus wind gusts as high as 30 mph. The storm is expected to impact “portions of central, north central, northwest and west central Wyoming,” including the Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains and Yellowstone National Park.

The warning states that weather could make travel “very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute for the entire Thanksgiving Day.”
