JACKSON, Wyo. — Traffic headed back into town yesterday from Grand Teton National Park was a bit slower. Yesterday at about 1:30 p.m. county and federal firefighters were paged out to north highway 89 for a wildland fire.

Multiple 911 calls were made about the brush fire near the south boundary of Grand Teton National Park along Highway 89. The fire occurred between the bike path and the road.

Visitors initially doused the fires with water and ice until interagency wildland fire resources arrived on the scene and extinguished the fires. They appear to have been caused by a vehicle traveling northbound, throwing sparks along the road shoulder.

Traffic was slowed while crews responded to the small fire.
