WYOMING – If you bought a firearm, ammo, fuel for your boat, or even some new fishing tackle—Wyoming Game and Fish Department thanks you. You helped chip in for wildlife conservation in Wyoming.

A portion of all ammo sales makes its way back to Wyoming Game and Fish. (WGFD)

For the coming year, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department stands to be reimbursed for up to a total of $19 million in revenues generated by the federal Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration and Dingell-Johnson Sport Fish Restoration Acts.

The legislation helps fund state agencies with a portion of sales revenue diverted to conservation efforts in all 50 states.

“It’s a significant portion of our budget,” said WGFD director Scott Talbot.

In fact, revenues generated by the two acts amount to about 30% of the department’s annual budget.
