JACKSON, Wyo. — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) will host a public meeting in Jackson to discuss proposed 2025 hunting season regulations on Thursday, March 20. Additional meetings will be held statewide throughout March.

The Jackson meeting will be held at the Game & Fish Regional Office on 420 N Cache St. at 5 p.m.

“Attending a public meeting is one way to learn about local wildlife populations, ask questions and to visit with Game and Fish biologists and wardens,” the WGFD said in a statement.

The WGFD opened a comment period to gather public input on the following regulations:

  • Chapter 2: General hunting regulation
  • Chapter 5: Antelope hunting seasons
  • Chapter 6: Deer hunting seasons
  • Chapter 7: Elk hunting seasons
  • Chapter 8: Moose hunting seasons
  • Chapter 9: Bighorn sheep and mountain goat hunting seasons
  • Chapter 11: Upland game bird and small game hunting seasons
  • Chapter 14: Migratory game bird hunting seasons and light goose conservation order
  • Chapter 15: Wild bison recreational hunting season
  • Chapter 20: Wild turkey hunting seasons

During the public meetings, Game and Fish officials will also discuss the potential enforcement of HB0003, which would impose penalties to anyone who intentionally injures or disables a predatory animal by use of an automotive vehicle, motor-propelled wheeled vehicle or vehicle designed for travel over snow.

The WGFD wrote that if House Bill 3 passes, Game and Fish law enforcement officers will have the authority to charge the driver with animal cruelty if the animal survives impact and isn’t killed right away. The penalty for not swiftly killing the animal could result in fine of up to $1,000 and the loss of state hunting and fishing privileges for up to three years, per the bill. Additionally, the court could revoke any license or suspend a person from purchasing or receiving any other license.

“We would enforce accordingly,” the WGFD wrote.

Interested hunters can review the proposed regulations and submit public comments until April 2 at 5 p.m. Comments can also be mailed to WGFD, Regulations, 3030 Energy Lane, Casper, WY 82604.

The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission meeting to take action on these regulations will be held in Casper on April 22 to 23.
