New snow amounts Monday through Monday night ranged from 5-9″ at Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee with up to 2″ in the valley. Lingering moisture from the overnight system will result in additional periods of light snow through the day Tuesday with another 1-3″ for the Tetons and a trace to a half inch for the Jackson Hole valley. Temperatures are warmer today with highs expected to reach the mid 30s in the valley and the low 20s in the mountains at 9,000 ft. Winds across the higher elevations today will be out of the west/southwest at 20-30 mph with gusts to 50 mph, while valley winds be out of the south at 10-20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.
After a lull in the pattern Tuesday night, a stronger storm system will arrive early Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of Teton County, valid from 5am Wednesday until noon Thursday. Snow will quickly pick up Wednesday morning and continue off and on throughout the day and into Wednesday night with 24-hour totals Wednesday-Wednesday night ranging from 5-10″ in the Tetons and 1-3″ in the valley.
Mountain winds on Wednesday will be out of the west/southwest at 15-25 mph with gusts to 40 mph, while valley winds will be out of the southwest at 10-20 mph with gusts to 30 mph. High temperatures Wednesday will be in the low 30s in the valley, and in the teens at 9,000 ft.
Snow will continue on Thursday with colder temperatures settling into the area. Look for an additional 4-8″ of snow in the Tetons from Thursday through Thursday night and an additional 1-3″ in the valley. Highs Thursday will be in the 20s in the valley and in the single digits at 9,000 ft with lighter winds compared to prior days.
