PINEDALE, Wyo. — Know anything about an illegally shot mule deer buck in the Big Piney area?
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) is seeking information regarding the slain deer that was left to waste in Big Piney. In a Thursday press release, WGFD shared that the incident occurred along Piney Drive in Deer Hunt area 143 sometime between the evening of Oct. 5 and the early morning of Oct. 6. That hunt area closed days earlier, on Oct. 2. The buck was shot with a crossbow.
“We are asking for the public’s assistance and encourage anyone with information about this incident to come forward,” Big Piney Game Warden Adam Hymas said in a statement. “Even the smallest piece of information can be crucial in helping us find those responsible.”
Anyone who was in the area and might have noted “suspicious vehicles, individuals, or activities,” or any pertinent information at all, is encouraged to call Hymas at (307) 260-8966 or the Stop Poaching Hotline at 1-877-WGFD-TIP (1-877-943-3847). Reports can also be submitted online.
WGFD reminds the public that anonymous tips are accepted. Any information leading to an arrest and conviction could be eligible for a monetary reward through the Wyoming Wildlife Protectors’ Association.
