A Winter Weather Advisory (from the National Weather Service in Riverton) is in effect for all of Teton County until 11 p.m. on Thursday. New snowfall as of 5 a.m. Thursday included 4 inches at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, 2 inches at Grand Targhee and an inch at Snow King.

Snow rates have picked up since the early morning reports and heavy snow will fall throughout the day on Thursday before gradually tapering off on Thursday evening. Additional snow amounts from Thursday morning through Thursday night will range from 5-10 inches in the Tetons and 2-4 inches in the Jackson Hole Valley. Highs on Thursday will reach the low 30s in the valley and the low 20s at 9,000 ft.

On Friday, we’ll see a break in the action with mostly cloudy skies and highs in the mid 20s. A fast-moving storm will then bring another round of snow from late Friday night/early Saturday morning through early Saturday afternoon with snow amounts ranging from 2-5 inches in the Tetons, while the valley should pick up around an inch.

On Sunday and Monday, skies will remain mostly cloudy with occasional light snow showers expected. Temperatures will warm up noticeably during this time as mild air from the South Pacific arrives, and on Monday we could see rain mix in across the valley.

A fast-moving storm and associated cold front will arrive on Tuesday morning with light to moderate snow possible, followed by a transition to dry and sunny conditions over the second half of next week heading into Christmas Day.
