POCATELLO, Idaho — The National Weather Service’s Pocatello, ID, office (NWS) issued a flood warning in Teton County and Bonneville County on the morning of Tuesday, June 4.
Heavy rainfall and snowmelt in the area led to the “flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,” according to the warning, with small stream flooding “imminent or occuring.” The warning is in effect until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5.
Driggs and Victor are expected to experience flooding, per the warning. The NWS noted that no additional rainfall is expected over the next two days, but additional snowmelt is expected as temperatures warm. On Monday, June 3, the NWS recorded between 0.25 and 0.5 inches of rainfall.
Floods were observed at Fox Creek, and water was spilling onto ID-33, according to the warning.

The NWS reminds drivers that it is never safe to drive or walk into flood waters.
“Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads,” the warning said. “Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.”
