CHEYENNE, Wyo.— Over the past four years, the Wyoming high school graduation rate has risen to 82.3%. While graduation rates are not exactly the issue in this state, the projection of its graduates into the real world is a legitimate one.
In an effort to alleviate the stresses and potential struggles that graduates may face after high school, the Wyoming State Board of Education will host public listening sessions on Profiles of a Graduate in March and April. The mission of these listening sessions are to identify the knowledge, skills, and attributes students should have when they graduate from high school.
Participants will be asked to provide their perspectives and ideas regarding the key skills and experiences students need in order to be prepared for life after high school. Four general listening sessions are scheduled from noon-1 p.m. on March 9 and 22, and 6-7 p.m. on March 10 and 25.
The public is encouraged to participate in this important conversation and may register for any of these virtual listening sessions. Registration is open in advance for March 9, March 10, March 22, or March 25. April session dates will be announced when available.
Groups or organizations willing to host a listening session are asked to email Diana Clapp, State Board Coordinator, or call 307-851-3478 to arrange a date and time for a listening session. Available dates and times may be found here.
