WYOMING – The Buffalo Bills traded up to get the Wyoming Cowboy quarterback everyone knew would go in the first round. The Bills selected Josh Allen with the seventh overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft last night. With the high selection, Allen became the highest drafted Poke in the university’s history.

Buffalo was one of the numerous teams Allen had visited. He told reporters he felt lucky and blessed to be going there.

For Allen, it will be a relocation across the country to western New York but there are some creature comforts to remind him of home.

Buffalo is home to some of the NFL’s harshest weather. Compared to a Laramie winter, it will probably seem like a walk in the park to Allen. Buffalo also sports as its team logo a bison. The animal is also Wyoming’s mascot and the featured state emblem.

ESPN covered the draft live from Dallas. The sports network also sent a television production crew to the famous college watering hole in Laramie: the Buckhorn. Cowboys fans and supporters of Allen erupted in applause when the draft pick was announced.
