UPDATE: The highway reopened at 6:01 p.m., according to a WYDOT alert.
ALPINE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) has announced that an avalanche on US89 south of Jackson has closed the highway to traffic in both directions between Alpine Junction and Hoback Junction.
WYDOT issued the alert at 2:57 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4. An earlier alert noted that an avalanche near milepost 122 near Alpine Junction had blocked one lane of travel.
