DRIGGS, Idaho — Teton School District 401 will hold a special meeting of the Board of Trustees to discuss the four-day school week decision on Monday, Jan. 22 at 5:30 p.m. in the District Office Auditorium, located at 481 North Main Street, Driggs, ID.

This meeting will address the procedural aspects related to the four-day school week decision.

According to Teton School District 401, the Board made a policy decision to move towards a four-day school week in Dec. 2023. It has since been determined that the process leading up to this decision did not fully comply with Idaho’s Open Meeting Law. Due to this procedural error, the Board will voluntarily rescind this decision in the upcoming special meeting. The Board will then discuss the four-day school week as a new matter, and the public can review the issues, options and take part in an open session discussion prior to the Board’s vote.

This meeting will help ensure that the District adheres strictly to legal requirements. The decision to rescind is purely process-related and should not be interpreted as an endorsement or criticism of the policy, Teton School District 401 said via press release.

The newly elected 2024 Teton School Board (Idaho) reviewed comments pertaining to the 2023 school board decision to implement a four-day school week during their last meeting on Monday, Jan. 8.

The public is encouraged to attend this Monday’s meeting in person or via live stream on the Teton School District’s YouTube channel. Public comments are welcome and must be submitted to Diane Temple, TSD401 Board Clerk, at dtemple@d401.k12.id.us by 12 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22.
