JACKSON, Wyo. — The Town of Jackson (TOJ) is telling residents to be wary of fraudulent puppy and dog sale schemes that have been taking place in the area.

According to the Jackson Police Department (JPD), there have been multiple reports in the last month of individuals using the Town and County’s Animal Shelter address to enact the scams. The address is 3150 S. Adams Canyon Dr. in Jackson.

“If you are considering purchasing a dog or puppy online, please take precautions,” said a Friday statement from TOJ. “Verify the seller’s identity and credentials before sharing any personal information or completing a transaction.”

People should remain cautious and informed when attempting to purchase a pet online.

Contact JPD with any questions or concerns at (307) 733-1430. For those who have been a victim of one of these scams, call dispatch at (307) 733-2331.
