JACKSON, Wyo. — The Jackson Town Council has taken the first action to rename a street or park after Lance Cpl. Rylee McCollum.

During the Town Council meeting on Monday, Councilmember Jessica Sell Chambers brought the idea forward during the “Matters for Mayor and Council” portion of the meeting.

The Council unanimously moved a motion, directing staff to present the item on a future agenda within 45 days. Town staff will present the process to the council at a later date.

McCollum was killed on Aug. 26 at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan in the final days of the U.S military withdrawal.
