JACKSON, Wyo. — The Town of Jackson has begun its review of last year’s Shed Hunt process and has plans in place to have instructions released to the public later this spring.
“For the most part, we plan to keep a similar process as the 2022 hunt, to include our application requirement,” said the Town.
For reference, information from the 2022 Elk Antler Shed Hunt can be found by clicking the link at the bottom of this page. Some of the information will change for 2023.
The public can expect to have certain information by the following dates:
- March 1: Comprehensive instruction memo detailing application and rules for elk hunter motorcade.
- April 1: Application release to join the motorcade
- April 15: Application closes
- April 16: Motorcade position response emails begin to be distributed
- May 1: Shed Hunt opening
The town asks that individuals hold their questions until after the March 1 information release.
Many sections of public lands in western and southern Wyoming are now closed for shed antler and horn hunting. The annual closure for sections of public land, state land and Wyoming Game and Fish Commission wildlife habitat management areas in Wyoming became effective at midnight on Jan. 1. The shed collection closure is meant to protect wintering big game.
