JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County and the Town of Jackson will host an open house on Tuesday, May 7 from 3 to 8 p.m. to address the increased demand on the community’s transportation network.

Two transportation-focused initiatives, Modernizing Mobility for West Jackson and the Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Safety Action Plan will be highlighted during the event. Town and County staff, along with project consultants, will be available to answer questions and provide detailed information on each project.

“While these projects are independent of each other, they overlap by providing a holistic approach for transportation planning in areas of the Town and County, specifically along pathways and school zones,” Teton County said in the announcement.

Modernizing Mobility for West Jackson will address bicycle and pedestrian improvements, including upgrades to roads, sidewalks and intersections. The plan also outlines improvements on multi-modal routes to schools, and future connectivity in the areas of South Park Loop Road, High School Road, Middle School Road and Northern South Park.

The Safe Streets for All (SS4A) project is utilizing a $600,000 federal grant and input from the community to create a Safety Action Plan focused on improving safety on the community’s streets, roadways and pathways.

The Safety Action Plan will act as a roadmap for safer, more connected streets and pathways. The plan will include a prioritized list of safety projects and strategies, a refined mobility network for the Town of Jackson and updated roadway and pathway design standards. The public is invited to take an online survey to comment on the Safety Action Plan.

“Although these infrastructure projects may be several years away from construction, we want to hear from the public to shape transportation ideas sooner than later,” Teton County Regional Transportation Planning Administrator Charlotte Frei said in the press release.

The Open House will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Jackson Hole, located at 1251 South Park Loop Road in Jackson.

In addition to the Open House, the public can participate in a virtual workshop to share opinions and ideas on the west Jackson plan. The virtual workshop will close on Friday, May 10, as the initial phase of the Modernizing Mobility for West Jackson project concludes.
