JACKSON, Wyo. — The Jackson Town Council voted on Monday, Jan. 9 to hire Andy Schwartz as a legislative advisor.

As the legislative advisor, Schwartz will track legislative developments related to town interests, directly advocate for the town during the legislative session and create weekly updates.

During the meeting Schwartz spoke to the Town Council and said that the job will be much more than what is outlines in the contract.

“There are currently almost 200 bills dropped, I anticipate that there will be more like 500,” Schwartz said.

“In my conversations with each of you, property tax is an issue you are all concerned about. As of today [Jan. 9], I count six bills related to property tax. They are all different and it is going to require some thoughtfulness to decide what your position may or may not be on any given property tax bill,” he said.

Schwartz represented Teton County House District 23 from 2015 through 2022. Last April, Schwartz announced that he would not seek reelection. His seat was filled by democrat Liz Storer.

According to the contract, Schwartz will be paid $10,000 for the month of January and $3,000 per month for the months of February, March, April, May and June. The total amount will not exceed $25,000.

The 2023 general session began yesterday, Jan. 10.
