JACKSON, Wyo. — Representative Andy Schwartz announced on Saturday that he will not be running for another term in the Wyoming Legislature. Schwartz has represented Teton County District 23 since 2015.

He announced his plans to not run for reelection this fall, during the Teton County Democratic Convention on Saturday.

Schwartz later shared his decision via Facebook.

“The decision was not an easy one, and I am not going to pretend I don’t have misgivings, but without going into the reasons, both personal and political, I am convinced it is the right thing to do.”

“It is time for a new voice and a new face to represent HD23 It has been an incredible honor to serve this community, both as a County Commissioner and as a Legislator, and I am thankful to the voters of Teton County for the opportunity.”

“I am proud of my accomplishments and hope I have made Jackson Hole and Wyoming a better place to live,” Schwartz wrote.

Schwartz first introduced a bill that would establish a real estate transfer tax in 2018. The many times failed bill has been amended over the years but faces challenges from the conservative legislature.
