JACKSON, Wyo. — The Jackson/Teton County Housing Authority announced a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to seek a consultant to lead a study of “naturally occurring affordable housing” within the Town of Jackson. The chosen applicant will analyze factors impacting market housing affordability and will be asked to suggest methods to preserve affordability.
According to a press release, the Housing Authority received a $25,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole to fund the study. The RFQ will remain open until August 21, at 5 p.m.
“The study will look at what’s affecting the affordability of market-rate housing and identify ways to help preserve it,” the press release states. “It will examine the current supply of unrestricted homes that are affordable to the local workforce, review how that has changed over time, and forecast future trends.”
The analysis will be used to suggest policy and program recommendations that are intended to support the protection of naturally occurring affordable housing, which is housing that remains affordable either because it has been owned long-term or due to its conditions, amenities or location. These housing options inherently do not rely on government subsidies or public financing programs.
