JACKSON, Wyo. — On Monday, June 17, Town Council unanimously approved a schedule of meetings to consider changes to the Town of Jackson Land Development Regulations (LDRs).

Council members enacted a 120-day emergency building moratorium to address the size of buildings on June 3. The approved schedule of meetings, surveys and workshops, starting on July 10 and ending on September 16, will help ensure that Town accomplishes its goals under the moratorium.

Town Councilor Jim Rooks said during the meeting that “deadlines are our friends” and that the ambitious schedule will help to expedite the process.

According to the Town, the adoption of the emergency ordinance creates a short timeline for staff, the community and Council to consider, draft and adopt amendments to the LDRs and, if necessary, design guidelines. The schedule includes proposed dates for workshops and public hearings with the Design Review Committee, Planning Commission and Town Council.

The schedule marks Wednesday, August 7 as the first public hearing to review LDR/Design Guideline changes. Dates are subject to change and the Council notes that the approved schedule can be extended if necessary.

The Council can also extend the 120-day moratorium period. The current expiration day of the moratorium placed on the acceptance of development applications for “large buildings” is on Tuesday, October 1.
