WYOMING — ‘Tis the season for holiday cheer, but not for festively illuminated vehicles, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP).

WHP took to Facebook to remind drivers of a state-wide statute (W.S. 31-5-928) regarding external lighting on personal vehicles.

“No person shall drive or move any vehicle or equipment upon any highway with any lamp or device thereon capable of displaying a red or blue light visible from directly in front of the center thereof,” the statute reads.

WHP shared the photo above, featuring a passenger vehicle festooned with string lights to light up Wyoming’s dark winter nights.

“While this might look cool and be festive, we would to remind you that it is illegal,” WHP posted alongside the photo. “Please remember to stay safe when celebrating this season!”
