JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Teton County Public Health coordinator Rachael Wheeler says flu shots are ready and the time is right to get protected.
Flu shots are available at the Public Health Department located at 460 Pearl Ave. on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 7:30am and 5:30pm, and on Fridays from 1:00pm to 5:00pm through mid-November. All flu shots are mercury and preservative free, by the way. The flu shot is a quadrivalent vaccine, meaning that it contains four strains of the flu virus. For adults over the age of 65, a high-dose vaccine containing fewer strains is available.
For anyone seeking other vaccinations in addition to a flu shot, a regular appointment can be scheduled with the Public Health Department.
Please check with your health insurance provider to see if a flu shot is covered by your plan. The total cost is $45 ($25 for the vaccine and a $20 administrative fee). If Public Health charges an insurance company for a flu shot and the insurance plan does not cover flu shots, the individual will be responsible for the paying the entire bill. Public Health accepts cash, check or credit card for payment. A discounted price of $30 is offered when a cash payment is utilized.
