JACKSON, Wyo. — The Teton County Treasurer’s Office announced that its Property Tax Refund Program for homeowners will open mid-May, and applications for the county program will be due on Monday, October 14.

The State of Wyoming gave public notice that its application is due on Monday, June 3. At the Governor’s request, the Legislature appropriated an additional $20 million to further expand the program to ensure that more homeowners are eligible to participate. According to the Governor’s Office, eligible homeowners must be a Wyoming resident for at least five years, occupy the residence at least nine months of the year and have total assets less than $156,900 per adult household member.

Teton County will be rolling out a program similar to the State’s Property Tax Refund Program, according to the Teton County Treasurer’s Office.

This year there are two tiers to the county’s refund program. Tier one has an income limit of $154,275, and applicants are eligible to receive up to 75% of their 2023 property taxes paid or a maximum of $5,562.40. Tier two has an income limit between $154,276 and $178,959, and applicants are eligible to receive up to 65% of the maximum refund calculated in tier one, up to a maximum of $3,615.56.

Both programs have other requirements like asset limits, residency and having 2023 taxes filed. Amounts received by the state and county programs cannot exceed 100% of applicant’s total 2023 tax bill. Also, the amount received by either program may be adjusted due to available funding.

Information regarding both Property Tax Refund Programs can be found here. Applications for the state program can be mailed to the Wyoming Department of Revenue as listed on the application or they can be dropped off at the Teton County Treasurer’s Office at 200 S. Willow Street.
