JACKSON HOLE, WYO – The Teton County Republican Party announced new leadership after its last county meeting in March.
At the meeting where new leadership was selected, local business leader Alexander Muromcew was named GOP chair, replacing Paul Vogelheim.
“It is humbling to follow in the footsteps of Paul Vogelheim, and I’m sure you join me in gratitude for his service as our county chair,” Muromcew stated in a press release to fellow party members.
Muromcew ran an unsuccessful write-in campaign against incumbent Andy Schwartz-D for HD23 last fall. Muromcew is also closely involved with Silicon Couloir as an entrepreneurial mentor, board member, and community caretaker. He moved to Jackson in 2010 from San Francisco with his wife and four kids. Muromcew also serves on the board of JH Land Trust.
“While November 2020 may seem far away, we need to start planning and laying the groundwork for the next election now,” Muromcew urged his fellow Republicans. “In 2018, the Democrats won 9 of the 10 town, county and state seats in the election. At the State level, Teton County is now represented in Cheyenne by three Democrats (Mike Gierau, Andy Schwartz and Mike Yin) and Independent Jim Roscoe. In such a heavily-Republican dominated legislature, Democrats are unable to represent us effectively.”
The county party also released its executive committeemembers:
- Maureen Murphy, Vice Chair
- Mark Barron, State Committee Man
- Mary Martin, State Committee Woman
- Tote Turner
- Heidi Schmillen
- Chris Woolley
- Rob Wallace
- Audrey Cohen Davis
- Tom Smitts
- Trey Davis
- Cornelius Kinsey, Treasurer
- Nikki Gill, Secretary
